A huge highlight of the event was Ms. Jordan's theatre class, who treated us to an amazing performance of "Hard Knock Life" from the musical Annie. They brought so much energy to the gym and really got the whole crowd celebrating!
Our student DJs did a fantastic job keeping the energy high and playing all the best tunes throughout the rally. We also want to send a massive thank you to Mr. Gavigan for organizing the entire event and being such a great MC.

Our students and teachers continue to work incredibly hard, and I am so proud of the learning, growth, and determination I see throughout our school each day. Our students are truly exceptional. They are talented, thoughtful, resilient, and capable of accomplishing great things.

New Lunch Snack Procedures
Beginning Monday, students will be able to purchase an additional snack and drink through the lunch line on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Students who would like to purchase these items must enter the lunch line at the beginning of their lunch period and purchase the snack and drink while going through the line. Students will not be permitted to return to the line for a snack after they have eaten.
Ice cream will be available for purchase on Fridays and may be purchased at any time during the lunch period.
Early Dismissals During Lunch
We are requesting your cooperation with early student pickups during our lunch periods, which run daily from 11:50 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A Lunch 11:55 - 12:20- B Lunch 12:30 - 12:55- C Lunch 1:05 - 1:30
If you need to pick up your child early, please ask them which lunch period they have and plan to arrive either before or after their scheduled lunch.
We do not have an intercom system in the cafeteria, which makes it difficult to notify students that a parent has arrived. When students are in class, we can contact them more easily, making the checkout process faster and more efficient.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us minimize disruptions during lunch.
Important Dismissal Reminder
The latest time for an early student checkout is 2:45 p.m. After that time, our office staff is fully focused on preparing students for a safe dismissal.
Please also avoid arriving too early and waiting in the parking lot before dismissal, as this causes significant backups in the car-rider line. Thank you for helping us keep students safe and traffic moving efficiently.

Mr. Wallace's classes came to the Media Center today to learn about research databases. Mrs. Moran taught students about a free resource available to all South Carolina students, SC Discus. All of our 7th grade social studies classes are being taught this lesson.

A Message from the Principal
Although this was a short week, it was certainly a full one!
On September 11, we observed Patriot Day and honored the victims of the September 11 attacks. Our chorus sang the National Anthem on the morning news, while our Student Ambassadors joined our School Resource Officer in placing American flags in front of the school. We are proud of the respectful way our students helped commemorate this important day.
As you review your student’s grades in PowerSchool, please remember that our grading practices are based on student performance and proficiency—not work ethic or assignment completion alone. A student’s grade should reflect the level of proficiency the student has demonstrated in the standards for that subject.

Important Information from the School Nurse
Parents of seventh-grade students should submit an updated immunization record showing that the required Tdap vaccine was administered on or after the student’s 10th birthday.
Parents of eighth-grade students who transferred to Indian Land Middle School should also submit their student’s immunization record.
All immunization records must be provided on a South Carolina Certificate of Immunization. Thirty-day notices regarding possible suspension have started going out to families whose records are incomplete.

i-Ready Parent Directions
We are providing families with a step-by-step picture guide to help students access and use i-Ready from home. Please review the i-Ready Picture Directions for assistance with logging in, navigating the program, and accessing assigned lessons. We encourage students to follow their teachers’ directions and complete i-Ready activities carefully and independently.

Progress reports were emailed to parents today, Friday, September 4. If you have questions or concerns about your student’s grades, please contact the teacher directly.

SC READY Score Reports
Individual SC READY score reports were sent home with students today. Please ask your student for this important information and take time to review the report together.
Panorama Student Survey
ILMS students will participate in the Panorama survey on Monday, September 14th. This survey gives students an opportunity to share feedback about their school experiences and helps our staff identify ways to strengthen student support, engagement, and the overall learning environment.
Parents who do not want their student to participate may complete the Panorama Survey Opt-Out Form. Completed forms may be emailed to jennifer.blake@lcsd.k12.sc.us or returned to the student’s teacher by Tuesday, September 8th.

White-Out Football Games
Next Wednesday’s football doubleheader is a WHITE OUT! To help students get game-day ready, the PTO will sell white spirit items during student lunches on:

Each bundle includes five fun white-out items students can wear and use during the games. Individual items will also be available for purchase while supplies last.

8th Grade Parents:
On Wednesday, October 21st, ILMS will administer the PSAT to 8th graders who choose to participate. Spots are filled on a first come first serve basis. There are 200 spots available. Please use the following Google Permission Slip Form to sign your student up: Parental Permission for PSAT/NMSQT Administration 2026-2027 School Year
Once you complete the permission slip online, you must pay online to secure your students’ spot using our new online payment system which can be found here LCSD Online School Payment. Permission slips that do not accompany a payment will not be accounted for towards the spots allotted. The payment deadline is September 11th, 2025.

What a fun and memorable week we have had at ILMS! From Hat Day and pieing our assistant principals to celebrating together at the Warrior Impact Picnic, our students brought so much energy and excitement to each activity. They were exceptionally well-behaved and had a wonderful time. It was a joy to see our Warriors laughing, celebrating, and enjoying these special moments together. Thank you to our families, staff, and PTO for helping make this week such a success!
Academic Information
September Is Attendance Awareness Month
Regular attendance is essential to student success. When students are present each day, they benefit from direct instruction, classroom discussions, collaboration with their peers, and timely support from their teachers. Even occasional absences can make it difficult for students to keep up with new learning.

PSAT Opportunity for Eighth-Grade Students

We are incredibly grateful to the 257 families who have supported our Warrior Impact Fundraiser. Together, you have helped raise an amazing $43,531!
Just 21% of our student body has accomplished this much. Thank you for believing in ILMS and supporting our students.
If we reach our $60,000 goal, we can create a new outdoor recreational space this semester—something all of our students can enjoy!
Donations will remain open through Friday, September 4, giving more Warrior families an opportunity to participate and help us move closer to our goal. Students may also continue earning prizes through September 4.
